By working with me, you are empowered to use California native plants when and where possible. Whether you DIY or hire someone to install, my designs are easy to follow and implement. You won’t have to worry about industry specific jargon or difficult to interpret technical designs. At Golden State Natives, the majority of my clients are DIYers from all over the state.

The Tiny Shade Garden | Yarrow Design Package
This client’s garden in Sacramento receives full sun for about three hours every day. The client wanted to hide the trash bins and AC unit, extend the patio space for the grill, and use plants that smell great while also growing big enough to cover most of the mulch at maturity. The design plan also had to be DIY beginner friendly to align with the client’s limited gardening experience. With a budget of $1000 and the help of friends and family, the client was able to install this landscape design in 2 days.
Within two months of install, the client reported her space was attracting butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and lots of caterpillars. From a weedy, builder grade lot to a miniature pollinator haven, it goes to show that even small places can have a BIG impact.
Some plants that were used: Island Alum Root (Heuchera maxima), Yerba Buena (Clinopodium douglasii), Hummingbird Sage (Salvia spathacea), and Pink Honeysuckle (Lonicera hispidula)to climb the lattice.
